Fully Flamed and Completed!

With the flames now completed, the background took a major step forward in both energy and depth. After establishing the base fire effect, I added four additional colors to build dimension, glow, and movement throughout the flame pattern. Those extra layers pushed the flames beyond a flat background treatment and gave them a richer, more atmospheric look, helping the entire piece feel hotter, deeper, and more alive behind the logo.

It's Gettin' Hot!

With the images protected under plastic, I moved into the first layer of the flame background. This stage establishes the deeper reds and dark flame shapes that will sit farthest back in the finished artwork. The next layer will move forward with brighter oranges, stronger flame shapes, and additional detail to begin building the depth and intensity of the fire.
The front row will be feeling the heat when these are done.
Dimension In Bevels

With the golden-yellow base color in place, I started building the bevels that would give the logos their depth. Every angle and edge was precisely measured before paint went down. Using the original golden yellow as my starting point, I tinted it into three different shades and began working them into the design, one section at a time.
The flat shapes were beginning to take on some dimension.
Coming to Life

This was the day the blank black material finally started looking like it belonged to Twisted Sister.
I began by laying out each logo directly on the amp masks, working from the approved measurements in millimeters and building the shapes one point at a time. Once the geometry was locked in, the lines were taped off and the first real transformation began.
White primer went down first, giving the final color something solid to build from. Then came the golden-yellow base coat.
In the span of a single day, faint layout marks became the beginning of two unmistakable Twisted Sister logos.
The concept is starting to come to life.
Production Has Begun
August 8, 2026
After several emails and phone conversations, the measurements, renderings, and approvals were locked in. The Twisted Sister stage set moved from design into the paint studio.
The first step was cutting the material to rough size for the 9'x20' VIBE backdrop, the two 6'x8' amp masks, and the 2'x12' drum-riser skirt. I hung the amp-mask material first and pre-shrunk it to get it ready for paint.

Stage Design Approved

The scaled stage rendering was approved by Twisted Sister and the band’s management, locking in the direction for the backdrop, drum-riser skirt, and amp masks.
With the full stage design approved, it was time to move from concept to production in the Classic Backdrops studio.
A group effort vision, soon to be reality.
How the Twisted Sister Project Began
July 8, 2026
A couple of months earlier, on May 1, I reached out to Jay Jay French, original member and guitarist of Twisted Sister, and introduced him to VIBE — Visual Impact for Bands and Education. The idea was to create a new Twisted Sister concert backdrop through VIBE, giving it a purpose beyond the stage through art, education, and community experiences.
Jay Jay passed the information along to the band’s management, and that led to our conversation that started the project.
The new 9'x20' backdrop would become part of VIBE. Separately, I was commissioned to create a drum-riser skirt and two amp masks for the band’s stage set, and over the next several days, the stage concept started taking shape through converstions.
